What does an MOT test check?
Your MOT covers all the essentials for roadworthy driving — brakes, tyres, lights, steering, suspension, seatbelts, exhaust emissions, and more. It’s a legal requirement for any vehicle over three years old and is carried out in accordance with the applicable MOT testing requirements.
How long does an MOT take?
Most MOTs at our Reading centre take around 60 minutes. We offer same-day slots, so in many cases you can drop your car off and have it back the same day. We also provide pick up and drop off service.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
If your vehicle doesn’t pass, we’ll give you a full repair estimate covering both failures and advisories. You choose whether to fix just the failures or handle the advisories too - there’s no pressure either way. Once repairs are done, we offer a free retest within 10 days.
Can I still drive my car if the MOT has expired?
No, driving without a valid MOT is illegal, except when travelling to a pre-booked MOT appointment or repair. If your MOT is due, book in with us as early as possible to avoid being caught out.
How far in advance can I book my MOT?
You can book up to a month before your MOT expires without affecting your renewal date. We also send a reminder one month ahead, so you never miss the deadline.
